Can I bring my car to the park?
Sure. Well, you can't drive it into the park itself. That would be quite the scene. However, Universal has two huge parking garage structures. Just follow the traffic flow -- and any attendants you may see along the way -- and they will show you to your spot.
I can't pack light. Are there lockers inside the park?
Sure. Locker rentals are available. You will see the building just to your left after you enter past the turnstiles. It's where they rent strollers and wheelchairs too.
These aren't free, are they?
No. It will run you $7 but that will give you access to your locker all day long.
Do I need a locker? I don't mind lugging my stuff around. Here. Check out these muscles! But what I want to know is if I will be able to take things on the rides?
While you will be fine with your belongings on many of the rides you won't be able to take any loose articles on the thrill rides. But that's okay because those rides -- Jurassic Park River Adventure, The Incredible Hulk and Dueling Dragons -- have temporary lockers available. At the two coasters the lockers are free for at least the first 45 minutes -- and longer if the wait times are longer than that. After that they will run you $2 an hour with a $14 maximum daily rental.
Wait a minute. I know that those aren't all of the thrill rides in the park. Are you telling me that I can take my Power Puff Girls backpack on Dr. Doom's Fearfall?
No. They have bins by the two towers where you can leave your stuff just before you board the ride. You will also notice that on Popeye's Bilge-Rat Barges that there is a sealed area in the center of each raft where you can stow away anything that is either bulky or that you don't want to get wet.
What if I have a problem getting back into my locker?
What were you doing inside the locker in the first place?
You know what I mean. Well?
Just flag down a nearby attendant. They deal with this quite a bit and should be able to take care of the situation.
How big are these lockers? Will I need two?
They are quite roomy. You will be surprised at how much you can stuff into them. However, over at Universal Studios Florida they have supersized family lockers available for $10 instead of the normal $7 rate.
What if I buy something at the other end of the park. Do I really have to lug it all the way to the lockers by the front gate?
So much for those muscles, huh? Anyway, any store will hold your purchase for you -- or even have it shipped to the front of the park for free. Just don't forget to pick it up on the way out.
Oh, can I ask one more question?
Yes -- and that was it.
Of course, lockers may not be that important if you are staying at one of the three onsite resorts -- where you can walk back to your room in just minutes. So you might want to consider pulling up a discounted online rate for the romantic Portofino Bay, the hip Hard Rock Hotel or the majestic Royal Pacific Resort.
