Enchanted Oak Tavern & Alchemy Bar - The Enchanted Oak Tavern & Alchemy Bar - This is no ordinary oak. From the outside it almost appears to be sculpted in the shape of a Merlin himself. Inside this faux tree trunk one finds huge portions of rotisserie chicken, ribs, and even turkey legs. The platters are served with huge side dishes that include a full ear of roasted corn on the stalk, raisin-enhanced carrot slaw, french fries and cornbread. The $4.99 chicken nugget or rib kid meals include fries, an apple and a drink complete with a swizzle straw. Coincidence or clever theming, the straws have inversions -- just like the neighboring Dueling Dragons rollercoaster. If you don't want hearty eats a grilled chicken salad or side dishes which include baked potatoes and fresh fruit cups are available. Is this restaurant's bark worse than its bite? The cool seating and the huge and tasty portions make this the best of the counter-service restaurants in the park. Dragon Scale Ale is microbrewed exclusively at the adjoined Alchemy Bar. Merlin is known to stop by and greet the dining island travelers.
